The Indian Community School, Junior Branch is located in Salmiya. The Junior school caters to the educational needs of children from the age of three and above.  Admission is given to classes KG, Prep and Standards I to IV for both boys and girls. The school is headed by Mrs. Gayatri Ravindran,Acting Principal. As children step on their first stage of schooling, education is imparted not just through books but mostly through a multi sensory approach, based on life experiences and the play way method.The staff has a winning combination of experience and youth.The teaching faculty is dedicated to the cause of moulding the young ones into persons with knowledge, competence and skills.There is no formal test/exam at KG level. 

For Prep only three terminal exams are conducted.  Promotion depends on the comprehensive evaluation of the student’s performance. Open Day is conducted during which parents come to discuss their child ’s progress with the teachers. The Junior School organizes several co-curricular activities, encouraging maximum participation of the students. The major functions of the year include the Foundation day, Sports day, Teacher’s day and Children’s day. There is also the Art and Craft Exhibition organized which displays students’ creations.
For the tiny tots there is a spacious play room equipped with educational toys and amusement items.
Computer education is provided from standard III onwards with adequate hands on experience for students.  Facilities for indoor- games, basket ball, badminton, throw ball and volley ball are available.
The focus of the school is to lay a strong foundation for the students’ all round development by providing a  child centered and child  friendly education, so that the child loves to learn, for life.
