A celebration of language, expression and creativity unfolded at the Indian Community School, Kuwait, as the school hosted ‘Tarang – Hindi Diwas Inter-Branch Competition 2026’ on Monday, 14th September 2026, at the ICSK Senior Auditorium. The event provided a common platform for students from across the ICSK family to demonstrate their command of Hindi and explore its literary, artistic and expressive dimensions. Students representing ICSK Senior, ICSK Khaitan, ICSK Amman, ICSK Junior and The Indian School of Excellence participated in the event, with 84 students competing in different categories.
The occasion was honoured by the presence of Ms. Chaitali Banerji Roy, Journalist, Author, Broadcaster and Radio Producer, as the Chief Guest. The programme opened with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Affan Amanullah Yelukar, followed by a prayer song by the school choir. The ceremonial lamp was lit by Ms. Chaitali Banerji Roy in the presence of Dr. V. Binumon, Principal and Senior Administrator of ICSK, marking the beginning of the celebrations.
In his address, Dr. V. Binumon spoke about the role of Hindi in preserving cultural identity and fostering an appreciation for India’s diverse linguistic traditions. He encouraged the participants to make the most of the opportunity and congratulated them for their preparation and enthusiasm. Ms. Chaitali Banerji Roy, in her address, urged the students to value their mother tongue and recognize language as an important part of personal and cultural identity. She also spoke about the ability of Hindi to bring people together and create meaningful connections.
Adding colour to the proceedings, a lively welcome dance was presented by the young dancers. Smriti M.S. of Class 11 delivered a speech highlighting the relevance and importance of Hindi. The programme also concluded with the Kuwait National Anthem, followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Nitin V.M., Head of the Hindi Department.
The competitive segment offered students a wide range of opportunities to express themselves. Through Poster Making, Storytelling, Patriotic Song, Pictorial Narration, Antakshari and Debate, participants displayed imagination, presence of mind, fluency and confidence.
In Poster Making, Jewel Mary Ajesh of ICSK Khaitan emerged in first place, followed by Aaradhya Varshney of ICSK Junior in second place and Anam Iqbal of ICSK Junior in third place. In Storytelling, Nivedita Yadav of The Indian School of Excellence (ISEK) took the top honour, while Aarzu Danish Nadkar of ICSK Khaitan and Mysha Pandwal of ICSK Amman secured the second and third positions respectively.
The Patriotic Song competition saw a strong team performance. The winning team from ICSK Amman comprised Swasti Raghavendra Rao, Rachel Mascarenhas, Abhiram Sisil Krishnan, Alicia Alice Jose, Lashwn Thomas Chacko and Nathaniel Alex Jojo. The second position was awarded to the ICSK Khaitan team represented by Anunand A. Pillai, Aaron Binu, Krishnapriya Harikrishnan, Keshav Prasanth, Yogini Khandu Shirshath and Joeliyn Mercy Varghese. The ICSK Senior team, comprising Aanshi Chaudhary, Renilda Elizabeth Fernandes, Jeffrey Roni John, Advika Arun, Tanishta Parthiban and Khuluod Suhel Faakji, secured the third position.
In Pictorial Narration, Maanya Bhansali of ICSK Amman won first place. Madiha Mukhtar Qazi of ICSK Khaitan was placed second, while Zainab Miyaji of ICSK Senior took third place. The Antakshari contest saw Niharika C. Yogeesha and Ganavi Govindaraj of The Indian School of Excellence (ISEK) claim the first position. Radha Rishikesh Wangikar and Abdul Hadi Abdul Majeed Shaikh of ISEK finished second, while Reem Khan and Zulekha Jaleel Surve of ICSK Khaitan secured third place.
The Debate competition brought out the students’ ability to present ideas with clarity and conviction. Rajnandini Prasad of ICSK Amman secured the first position, with Juzer Mustafa of ICSK Senior taking second place and Mohammed Areeb Alam of ICSK Khaitan finishing third.
The programme drew to a close with the recognition of the winning entries. Mrs. Susan Rajesh, Vice Principal of ICSK Senior, presented medals and trophies to the successful participants. Beyond the competitive aspect, Tarang served as an opportunity for students from different branches to interact, learn from one another and celebrate Hindi through diverse forms of expression.
The successful conduct of Tarang 2026 reflected the school’s continuing efforts to provide students with meaningful platforms for linguistic and cultural engagement. With its blend of literary activities, music, visual creativity and public speaking, the celebration highlighted the enduring relevance of Hindi while giving young students an opportunity to make the language their own through talent and imagination.
