With the motto Say no to Corruption; Commit to the Nation, The Indian Community School, Kuwait observed Vigilance Awareness Week from 30th October, 2023 to 5th November, 2023 commemorating the birth anniversary of an extra ordinary leader, stateman and the great unifier, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This initiative aimed at raising awareness about the existence, causes, gravity and looming threat of corruption. Corruption erodes trust, weakens democracy, hampers economic development and further exacerbates inequality, poverty, social division and the environmental crisis. Saying no to corruption is the collective responsibility of every citizen, and ICSK has left no stone unturned in imparting the young minds with the need of corruption free society.
During the morning assembly on Monday 30th October 2023, students were briefed about the way corruption works, the system that enables it and the multi -fold damage caused by it. Highlighting the strength of the younger generation in building a corruption free nation, Mrs. Susan Rajesh, Vice Principal of ICSK administered the Integrity pledge. Taking an oath to exhibit integrity in personal behaviour and to raise their voice against any form of corruption, the ICSKians promised to lead the nation with honesty and transparency. Dr. V. Binumon, Principal and Senior Administrator of ICSK in his address motivated the students to fight the menace of corruption by upholding the values of integrity and transparency in words and deeds. Posters and slogans on Eradicating Corruption to be Build a New World were displayed on the House bulletin boards by the Leaders, Victors, Winners and Achievers the four houses of the school senate.
A panel discussion on the theme Social Justice was led by the students of Humanities batch on Tuesday, 31st October 2023. Students from classes IX to XII assembled in the auditorium as audience. The panelists - Ms. Haya Anwar, Ms. Faith, Ms. Eman Mohammad, Ms. Gouri, Ms. Anna Kurian and Ms. Zainab of the Humanities batch explored the topic Social Justice and shared their perspectives on various forms of injustice prevalent in the society in terms of disability, gender, social, economic, media injustice and social injustice in access to healthcare. The brainstorming session witnessed the active participation from the audience during the question- answer session making the attendees feel more involved, thus offering a wealth of knowledge and insights. The session enabled the young minds to widen their knowledge on corruption and its deteriorating impact on the community.
With the initiative of inculcating the ideas of probity in public life and integrity in daily life in school children, the observance of Vigilance awareness week at ICSK was a resounding success. It reinforced the commitment of the institution towards a corruption free nation.
