The Indian Community School, Kuwait organized a series of creative competitions in the month of April, bringing together students across different grade levels to celebrate the Al Arfaj flower—Kuwait’s national flower and a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, and appreciation for the nation’s rich natural heritage.
As part of this initiative, the school conducted the ‘My Kuwait - Video Making Competition’ for students of Classes 10 to 12 and ‘My Kuwait – Message Card – Making Competition’ for classed VI to IX under the inspiring theme ‘One Country, One People, One Heart – We Are Kuwait’.
The Al Arfaj flower, which served as the heart of both competitions, holds deep national significance. It symbolizes strength, resilience, and gratitude toward frontline heroes in the military, medical, and emergency services who continue to serve the nation with unwavering dedication.
Despite the challenges of online learning, students participated with remarkable enthusiasm. The video-making competition showcased impressive digital creativity, storytelling, and technical skill, with students expressing their love, respect, and connection to Kuwait in meaningful ways. The winners were, Ashni Grace D’Souza of class 10 B who secured first place, followed by Steve Philip Blesson of Class 11G in second place, and Blessy Juliet Joel of Class 12 B in third place, with their entries standing out for originality, presentation, and meaningful depiction of Kuwait’s spirit.
The card-making competition also witnessed an overwhelming response, with a total of 66 entries submitted online. Each artwork reflected imagination, dedication, and a strong cultural connection. The winners were selected across two categories. In Category 1 (Classes 6 and 7), the first-place winner was Areille Simi Mathews of Class 7C, Ayesha Rehmatullah of Class 7F bagged the second position, and Madiha Fatmi of Class 7A clinched the third position. In Category 2 (Classes 8 and 9), Angel Maria Subin of Class 9E secured first place, while Sarthak Karekar and Sreebhagya Sreejith of Class 8D shared second place, and Meenakshi Warrier of Class 9D achieved third place.
Both competitions beautifully highlighted the creativity, resilience, and unity of students, even within a virtual learning environment. More importantly, they strengthened students’ sense of belonging and deepened their appreciation for Kuwait’s culture and values.
The initiative was a resounding success, reflecting ICSK’s continued commitment to nurturing creativity, cultural awareness, and emotional expression among its students. It stood as a heartfelt celebration of unity, gratitude, and love for Kuwait—where young minds came together as one community, inspired by one nation and one shared heart.
