The Indian Community School, Senior, came alive with the vibrant colours, flavours and spirit of France as it hosted French Fiesta on 8th September 2026, a memorable celebration that beautifully blended French culture, creativity, teamwork and compassion. More than a no-fire cooking competition, the event became a joyful platform where students came together to create, collaborate and, most importantly, make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
The excitement began with the first round of the no-fire cooking competition, where students of Grade 9 enthusiastically participated in teams. With creativity as their secret ingredient, the young chefs prepared an array of dishes and presented them with great imagination and care. The activity provided students with an opportunity to showcase their culinary skills while learning the importance of teamwork, time management, cooperation and responsibility. The cheerful atmosphere and enthusiastic participation made the first round a memorable experience for everyone involved.
What made the event truly special was the spirit of giving that followed. The food prepared by the students was sold to students across all grades, transforming the cooking competition into a meaningful charitable initiative. The proceeds were dedicated to supporting cancer patients, giving the students an opportunity to understand that even a simple act of creativity can become a gesture of kindness and hope.
The excitement reached its peak during the grand finals on 15th September 2026, where talented teams from ICSK Amman, ICSK Senior, ICSK Khaitan and Indian School of Excellence competed for the top positions. The final round was judged by a distinguished panel comprising Mr. Prakash, Assistant HOD of French, ICSK Amman; Mr. Himmujul, Assistant HOD of French, ICSK Khaitan; and Mrs Eman Ahmed, Department of French, ICSK Senior.
The French Fiesta celebrations culminated in a vibrant and graceful valedictory ceremony. The event opened on a serene note with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Khadeeja of Class VII, setting a reflective tone for the proceedings. This was followed by a melodious rendition of Aux Champs-Élysées, which added a distinctly French flavour to the occasion. Thoughtful speeches by Sameeha of Class VII and Sakina of Class VIII were followed by the lively group song Au Café, filling the gathering with energy and cheer.
The ceremony then proceeded to the much-awaited prize distribution by Dr. V. Binumon, Principal and Senior Administrator of ICSK, celebrating the creativity and achievements of the participating teams. The winning team comprised Aryan Manohar, Amalek Alex, Aaron Renju Varghese, Aadhin Valasery Ribin, Saanvi Menon and Jhanvi Sreejith from ICSK Amman. ICSK Senior secured the second position with the enthusiastic efforts of Laasya Venkata Priya Gade, Meenakshi Warrier, Aazeen Ali Kamil Ali Saiyed, Avanthika Binu and Marien Susan. The third position was secured by ICSK Khaitan, represented by Ganga Priyesh, Akansha Sumy Jacob, Benitta Ann Mathew, Norlin C Jobi and Rebecca Mariam Teni. Each participating team brought its own flavour of creativity, cooperation and enthusiasm, making the final round a celebration of talent and camaraderie. The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Marie Syril Trina, HOD French, Coordinator of French Fiesta.
French Fiesta will be remembered not merely as a cooking competition, but as a celebration that brought together the joy of food, the beauty of culture and the warmth of compassion. Through every dish prepared, every performance presented and every contribution made, the students discovered that a celebration becomes truly meaningful when it reaches beyond ourselves.
