On September 5, 2024, the Indian Community School Kuwait (Senior Branch) celebrated Teachers’ Day in a grand manner, combining it with Self-Governance Day (SGD) to honor educators and provide students with a unique learning experience. The event was a vibrant display of gratitude, creativity, and collaboration, paying tribute to the invaluable role of teachers in shaping the future of students.
The day began with a lively assembly featuring colourful performances prepared by the students. These acts, ranging from music and dance to a fashion show, showcased the immense talent and creativity of the students, all dedicated to expressing their appreciation for the guidance and support they receive from their teachers. The performances, filled with energy and enthusiasm, were a heartfelt gesture of thanks to the teaching staff.
A special highlight of the celebration was the introduction of the "Motivational Board," a new initiative by Mr. Nishad. Based on the theme "Take One and Leave One," this board encouraged both students and teachers to exchange motivational quotes, inspiring one another. The board was inaugurated by the school principal, Dr. V. Binumon, alongside four honoured teachers—Mr. Joel Dsouza, Mrs. Shiby Mol, Mrs. Binu, and Mr. Sumit—who were the first to select a motivational message and leave one behind for others to reflect upon.
In a touching gesture, Dr. V. Binumon also presented each teacher with a rose, symbolizing the school’s deep appreciation for their hard work and dedication. This simple but meaningful act was a reminder of the vital role teachers play in shaping the minds of future generations.
One of the most exciting aspects of the day was the student-teacher initiative under Self-Governance Day. Selected students were given the unique opportunity to step into the shoes of their teachers, preparing detailed lesson plans and conducting classes for the day. Under the guidance of their teachers, these students took on the challenge with enthusiasm, learning firsthand the intricacies of teaching. Their efforts were evaluated by a panel of judges who assessed their preparation, presentation, and interaction with the class. This initiative gave students a deeper understanding of the responsibilities their teachers shoulder daily and fostered a greater appreciation for the teaching profession.
