The Astronomy Club of ICSK aims to quench the thirst of budding astronomers by organizing events such as fun-filled nights of stargazing, telescope handling sessions, technical sessions, exhibitions, field trips and workshops. Central to the club's mission is the cultivation of a scientific temperament among students, fostering a deep appreciation for the wonders of astronomy and astrophysics. The school's auditorium was transformed into a celestial wonderland, adorned with twinkling stars, planets, and galaxies, mirroring the awe-inspiring beauty of the night sky. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. P. Sreekumar, Director, The Manipal Centre for Natural Sciences, and a luminary figure in the realms of space science, having served in prestigious roles at ISRO Satellite Centre, Bangalore, and as a core member of NASA's Compton Gamma-ray Observatory Goddard Space Flight Centre.
Recognizing the insatiable curiosity of students and the limitless wonders of the cosmos, the Astronomy Club of ICSK provides a nurturing platform for aspiring astronomers to delve into the captivating realms of astrophysics and space exploration. The Astronomy Club led by Mr. Antony Austin under the able guidance of Dr. V. Binumon, Principal and Senior Administrator of ICSK comprises a vibrant student body of President, Mst. Mohd. Ummar, Vice President, Mst. Neev Mehta, Secretary, Miss Anna Maria Sone, Joint Secretary, Mst. Abhijay Penikalapati, Treasurer, Miss. Thriveni Rajesh and 150 enthusiastic star-gazers.
The auspicious proceedings commenced with the recitation of verses from the holy Quran, followed by a soul-stirring prayer song performed by the school choir. Mrs. Susan Rajesh, Vice Principal of ICSK, Senior, extended a warm welcome to the gathered audience, urging students to ignite their curiosity and passion for the world of sciences.
In his address, Dr. V. Binumon commended the mentors and students for their initiative in establishing the Astronomy Club, urging them to pursue their quest for knowledge with unwavering dedication.
